We are here to help

Our focus is on empowering NGO's (non-profit organizations), MFI's (Micro Finance Organizations) and Social Entrepreneurs to develop and manage poultry projects in the developing world.   Many times our partners already have some sort of poultry operation, our resources can help benchmark operational performance and provide training.

The Egg Module is always open to developing new partnerships. If you represent or know of an organization that may be interested in our project please have them contact us at info@eggmodule.org

 Jinja, Uganda

The Women’s Center for Job Creation’s (WCFJC) and The Egg Module are entering into a partnership to create a small-scale poultry egg production facility in the Jinja District, Uganda. WCFJC works with women to transform struggling micro enterprises into profitable initiatives that create jobs in their communities.  This is done by providing beneficiaries with access to relevant training/capacity building, access to markets and access to value-adding resources.

Marantha, Uganda

University of Minnesota MBA student Dan Kaskubar is working with the Egg Module to determine whether Maranatha would be a good fit for a second pilot site. Dan’s Internship with this Ugandan NGO is focused on partnering to build capacity through income generating enterprises. This is particularly relevant because
Maranatha has made it a goal to raise tens of thousands of chickens for income by 2013.

In June 2008 Dan has provided these intital reports about the status of thier poultry operations.

Counting and Weighing Chickens

Rabuor, Kenya

The first project was with the Rabuor Village Project. Below is a  summary of the project from the June 2008 newsletter.

"Four hundred peeping chicks arrived in Rabuor Village the evening of April 25, 2008. A full year of research, planning, and training went into the creation of this commercial poultry raising enterprise. Phase One was the completion of a central coop in December, 2007. Due to the Kenyan political crisis, there was a delay in obtaining the chicks and other supplies, but by early Spring our staff was able to work around the problems and move the project forward. Phase Two of the project is the completion of three smaller, outlying coops which will house brood and layer stock. This ambitious enterprise will have multiple benefits in Rabuor, including providing eggs to the Nursery School students, income generation for the youth, and one of the major building blocks of economic self sufficiency."
